Laminate Floors
Laminate flooring comprises several core layers of hardwearing, high-density fibreboard with a reproductive photographic woodgrain layer and multiple top coats of clear, durable, protective resins.
1What are the benefits of laminate flooring??
Perfectly replicating the look of many beautiful European and Australian native woodgrains, laminate brings the added benefits of being affordable, scratch, fade, dent and stain resistant. It is also hygienic, easy to clean and low maintenance.
2What are the disadvantages of laminate flooring?
The inability to sand and refinish is a major disadvantage of laminate flooring. If laminate flooring is heavily worn, deep scratched, or grooved, it cannot be sanded or refinished like solid hardwood—it must be replaced
3Where should I use laminate flooring in my home?
Most laminate flooring isn't suitable for wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries, but it can be laid everywhere else.
It is well suited to high traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens and living rooms and makes a hygienic and hypoallergenic floor covering for bedrooms, especially good for asthma and allergy sufferers. Pop down some cosy rugs for warmth and noise insulation, and you have a stylish and elegant bedroom floor.
4Can I use laminate over tile?
Yes, you can lay laminate over tile as long as the tile is in good condition, which means no broken or loose pieces. If the tiles aren't flat, you need to level the floor, using leveling compound. You should install an underlayment before laying the floor, but you may need to install transition strips.
5Can I use laminate flooring on stairs?
Laminate flooring can be installed on stairs, or anywhere else that you would install hardwood flooring.
